Hadshot Haheizar Records releases a double compilation with one CD containing classics and one CD with remixes...

After years of releasing tons of music, Hadshot Haheizar releases a double compilation where they take a look back on several classics released on their label, but also make a new twist on them. CD 1 is ten older classic tracks, and CD 2 is ten new remixes of classic tracks. It is compiled by Hadshot label manager and owner of Cosmophilia distribution, dj Yaniv.

First out is a classic over most goa classics, The Overlords with Gods Eye on Goa! A pretty good group with Ian Ion known from Koxbox and another guy, with a little help from Michael Kohlbecker. This track still doesn’t sound too out dated. A bit too clubby for most psytrancers these days, but fun to listen to when you want to look back at that period… Track two is by The Siamese Twins. I don’t have much experience with their music, but I sure recognise the old style! Pretty slow, pumping trance with typical old school floating sounds. Then we get a classic I remember well by Vernon, which is Steve B-Zet (great talent!) in collaboration with A.C. Boutsen. This is more hard trance than psytrance, but at that time, this was played together. Then we get a beautiful classic by Planet B.E.N. who got a very good reputation after releasing his debut album Trippy Future Garden on Polytox Records in 1996. The track we get here is in my opinion one of the best tracks this guy has produced. A totally floating track with a drift only X-Dream had at that time. This track is not on the album, but was released separate on the Hadshot label.
Then we get a track by Eargear who has released quite a lot on Hadshot, including an album called Panatlantic. This is pure, stumpy, progressive trance. Very minimal in my ears. Track 6 is by a favourite of mine. Sandman (Izik Levi) released a fantastic album (Psychoo Toons) on Hadshot in 2000, and here we get a taste of it. Cool melodies, great psychedelic sounds and a rhythmic drift. Track 7 is by Deedrah who released an album and a single called Reload on Hadshot in 2001. Here we get the track Reload. Sort of full on GMS sound, with dark floating sounds, a nice violin sample and a guy shouting the word party. Then we get a track by Three Point Turn who has released two albums (By Any Means Necessary and Explicit) on Hadshot. The track we get here is a taste of their last album. This is minimal techno trance, with noisy rough sounds. Very dark and hard. Sounds almost more like techno than trance. Track 9 is by Sonic Fusion who also have released quite a lot on the Hadshot label. They like it tribal, and that’s what you get here too. A lot of tribal drums and voices, but pretty minimal. This sounds almost like some house music. The last track on CD 1, is a really great track by someone called Dandandado, which is Frederic Holyszewski (Deedrah, Dado, Synthetic etc.) in a collaboration with a guy named Daniel Toby. This track has some beautiful psychedelic sounds and totally drifting rhythms. Nice morning track!
Then it is time for the remixes on CD 2. First out, Swedish Ticon has got the honour of remixing The Overlords, Gods Eye On Goa. No surprise, they give us a progressive version of the track. Very stumpy progressive sound, with the Overlords melody mixed in between. Sure funny, but I prefer the original. Then Sonic Fusion gives us a remix of The Siamese Twins. I actually find this version better than the original, but it is also very different. There is still a clubby sound over it. Son Kite has got pretty good reputation lately. In track 3 they have remixed Vernon. They haven’t cut out any of the typical melody of that track, but added some more progressive rhythms. Pretty good remix, that for sure will do well in a progressive set. No other than the great Eat Static has got the job to remix the fantastic Planet B.E.N. track September Love! This version is also very good. You get some typical spaced out Eat Static sounds, and a faster more heavy rhythm. I love the Eat Static sound, so I really enjoyed this, but I can’t say it’s any better than the original. Very different to hear it like this. Track 5 is a remix of the minimal Eargear track Trancehouseexpress, done by no other than Der Dritte Raum! Those guys were among my favourite groups for a while. They do it a bit minimal too, but in a more groovy and trancey way.
Then we get a Son Kite remix of Sandman! That’s pretty weird! This version is much more minimal than the original. Very progressive and drifting. Track 7 is the GMS remix of Deedrah, Reolad, you also find on the cd single. It doesn’t sound very different from the original, but of course you get the usual GMS sound. Track 8 is remixed by The Delta. The Delta likes it rough and totally dark these days, and that’s what you get. Can it get any darker than this? Perfect for techno lovers. Then we get a track that isn’t on CD1. A progressive track by Ticon. Stumpy and minimal, with a few jumpy psychedelic sounds. The last track on CD 2 is a weird mix done by Dogma 3000, where they have added sound from many different tracks by various artists on the Hadshot label. I think this is some of the best Dogma 3000 has ever done.
This double compilation is pretty funny for a collector of psytrance. I think it’s a good deal to get the originals and the remixes in one box. So if you like the Hadshot style, want some classics or are curious about the remixes? Check this out.

well, I'm not so crazy about this one... mainly because what Hadshot is calling "classics" aren't really classics... I can undesrtand stuff like The Overlords and Planet BEN, but for the rest, I doubt anyone would have tears in their eyes while re-listening to any of these remembering "the good old days". Releases like TIP - The Stroy and 10 Years of Israeli Trance do a much better description of actual classics that'll make you regret we're not living in the early 90s anymore... But I DO like the concept of presetning older releases and making new reinterpretations of them!! Too bad Hadshot didn't want to colaborate with other lables on this one to have a higher diversity of initial releases to work on to. The Siamese Twins remix is a KILLER and I think it will be remebered by the collective memory much better than the original.GMS did a pretty decent job in remixing Reload too. The other remixes are pretty average though IMO and have a mostly minimal orientation. So I'll give this a 10/10 for the concept, 5/10 for the track selection...
