First compilation out on Mind Control Records in France...
|
Mind Control Records run by Talamasca is out with their first compilation. This is called Mind Controllers Part 1, and is packed with full on trance. It is compiled by Talamasca and Nomad.
Mind Controllers Part 1 (Mind Control Records) 2004 (MCCD002)
1. Talameskimo – To Be Continued…
2. Inner Action – People Of The Light
3. Sirius Isness – Legion Of Angels
4. Eskimo On Liquid – Trip To Melbourne
5. Silicon Sound Vs. Nomad – Same Planet
6. Enterprise – Unreal Vibrations
7. Tikal – Smoky Land
8. Triptych – Do It!
9. Protoculture – High Octane
First out is a collaboration between Talamasca (dj Lestat) and the son of John Phantasm, Eskimo (Junya). They give us a very melodic, stumpy track. The melodies are not very advanced, but I’m sure it will fit some peoples taste at sunrise. Personally, I find it a bit cheesy. Track 2 is by a new group called Inner Action (Nitzan Shachaf and Roy Engel) from Spain. This is a pretty cool full on track. The melodies in this one is a bit more weird and make me want to work a little on the dance floor. If you like todays sound of Talamasca, you will probably enjoy this one too. Track 3 is a new track by Sirius Isness (Davina Elmosnino and Max Peterson) based in Spain, who has become quite popular in the full on scene around the world this year. They also released their debut album (Resolution Of Duality) earlier this year on Moon Spirits Records. Here they give us a massive, stumping track with melodies that keeps away from the cheesy side. One of the better tracks on this compilation in my opinion. Track 4 is a collaboration between Eskimo and Liquid (Ozzy and Fractal Glider). Here we get the massive, rolling bass line, which reminds me a lot of GMS. In my ears, the melodies is also too much like GMS, which sounds almost out dated because we have heard this sound so many times before. A little more variation and creativity would be nice.
Track 5 is a collaboration between Silicon Sound (Johannes Regnier) and Nomad (dj Mael), both from France. While Silicon Sound has gone a trippy, melodic direction the last couple of years, Nomad has gone towards hard house influenced trance. The track we get here doesn’t sound like any of those two, but we get a sound that sounds just like the old 303, but mixed with a massive bass line and full on sounds. Then we get quite a surprise. A track by a new artist called Enterprise (Alex Khorosh) from Russia. It reminds me a bit of Silicon Sound, with a massive, trippy, melodic vibe. Definitely my favourite track on this compilation. Track 7 is a new track by Tikal (Vincent and Mano Bernal) who released a fantastic debut album (Ritual Cycle) on Neurobiotic Records earlier this year. This time I got pretty disappointed. They have put on a very ugly guitar that sounds pretty fake and simple. The melodies isn’t as good as usual either. Worst Tikal track I have heard so far. Track 8 is a new track by Triptych (Charles Michaud) who released his debut album Lost Paradises on Turbo Trance Records last year. He definitely likes to make it a little different and add a lot of samples. Here we get quite a lot of weird voice samples above the stumpy beats. Pretty good track, but nothing outstanding. The last track we get on this compilation is a new track by Protoculture (Nathaniel Raubenheimer) from South-Africa. He gives us a drifting, massive track as usual. It sounds pretty strong, but that morning melody sounds way too fluffy to me.
This compilation is full of artists that are doing well in the full on scene these days. Personally I think a bit too many full on compilations like this are being released these days. With other words, this compilation wasn’t very exciting, but if you really like the Talamasca style, you might check this out.

The first track on this compilation: Talameskimo's "To be Continued"- must be the best track in the history of PsyTrance....No kidding boys and Girls: This track is unprecedented....Nothing comes close to the sheer intensity and musicianship of this unbelievable piece of psy art.....Eskimo is the most talented musician around today....He brings new life into this genre.....This track is but a taste of this guy's musical audacity and talent....
