The debut album by The Misted Muppet is out on Trancelucent Productions...
|
I first heard a track by The Misted Muppet on the Empty Hand compilation released on Trancelucent Productions last year. Now, one year later, they have definitely improved their sound a lot, and are now releasing their debut album on the same label. The Misted Muppet are Dagan Israeli and Tal Hassidi. Here comes something for the melodic full on lovers out there.
The Misted Muppet "From The Legend" Trancelucent Productions 2004 (TP008)
1. The Mist
2. Machine Forest
3. Cat Visions
4. Midnight Tales
5. Innocence
6. Toward The Castle
7. Mercenaries
8. Might And Magic
9. From The Legend
10. Defender Of The Past
The first track starts with some piano and really scary sounds. The melody also gives you a very creepy vibe. Then some totally full on pumping beats start pushing. This is absolutely full on to the bone. A wild melody jumps in and varies all the way through. This sounds just like old school goa trance, but with a bit more fresh sound. This has so much energy! Some might say that this doesn’t fit into parties today, but if you try to dance to this, you will feel an enegy you can’t find in most full on releases today. This is totally massive, hard to describe. Really great to hear something like this again. Full of variation all the way through. Track 2 starts with some horror movie vibes, before the banging full on beats are back on track. The rest of the track goes wild and crazy, with a nice variation of old school sounds and melodies. Track 3 continues the horror movie vibes too. Some totally crazy sounds and intense full on rhythms. Pretty drifting with some totally mad melodies. Actually you get the most mad melody I have heard since 1996 in this track! Really nice to hear such madness again. For sure something for those who miss the old melodic goa trance, but here you get even a better, more modern sound picture. Track 4 goes a bit deeper, with some really hard pumping beats with metallic, crazy sounds jumping and swirling above. After a few minutes, we get a nice little break with some floating sounds and a humming voice, before the full on madness hits back again with a crazy melody.
Track 5 starts with some bubbling sounds. Then we jump back to the full on rolling bass line, which reminds me a bit of GMS, but the sounds and melodies we get here are more original. This track is pretty rough, with a lot of really twisted, crunchy sounds. Track 6 has some really scary voice samples and totally intense, pumping bass line. The sounds and melodies we get here are pretty intense too. It sounds a bit darker, perfect full on for the night time. The melody we get here reminds me a lot of Astral Projection. Track 7 starts with that horror movie vibe again. This horror movie theme goes through the entire album. Pretty cool night time music. This track goes the same full on direction, with some floating twisted sounds and tons of other ingredients, which makes it really massive. As usual, they give us a little break in this one too, which is some piano they have twisted a little bit around. This reminds me a bit of Infected Mushroom and their Classical Mushroom album. Track 8 goes the Astral Projection direction again. Totally melodic, drifting, full on goa trance. Track 9 doesn’t give us any rest either. Still that same full on, melodic style all the way through, but with a bit more fluffy vibe than the previous tracks on this album. The last track we get here is a relaxing, chilled track, with some beautiful piano and floating sounds. This one sounds actually more like classical music than electronic music. Nice after nine totally freaked out, mad, full on tracks.
This album is perfect for those of you who miss the old school melodic goa trance. Here you get a scary horror movie theme and tons of full on melodic madness. Very different from all the other full on music being released these days, so check it out!

Review:
Medieval horror muppets!
Bit late on this one, but this album is so frickin’ superb, I just have to express my feelings towards it… After repeated listens, I have totally surrendered to the magic sound of those insane muppets… Many have pointed out the obvious similarities to early Infected Mushroom material, and yes this is what IM’s 3rd album could’ve sounded like… This is far from plagiarism though – this is highly original, flawless, ground-breaking material…
Think medieval. Think eerie, spooky horror-flicks. Think big orchestral compositions. Think full-blown multilayered trance-inducing goa-trance… And you’re still nowhere near the sound of this truly outstanding album… Each track is a little masterpiece by itself…
From the extremely well-crafted multilayered melodic mayhem of ‘The Mist’ to the bombastic orchestral sonic horror sound-manipulations with super-catchy driving acid-driven melodies of ‘Machine Forest’
From the wicked stomper ‘Cat Visions’ that incorporates the sound of a pissed-off meowing cat, to the deep, dark, percussion driven mayhem that is ‘Midnight Tales’ …With the stunningly beautiful break, before the final full-on part… That track has it all… Perfection…
From the phat, ballistic grooves that define ‘Innocence’ to the dark, scary Halloween night-time trance in ‘Towards the Castle’ – those high-pitched acid-lines WILL mess with your head… So beware!
From the perfect blend of eerie, merciless night-trance and energetic, twirling acid-lines combined with demented piano-riffs in ‘Mercenaries’ to the hard-hitting, relentless full-on goa-trance beautifully presented in ‘Might and Magic’
From the experimental wizardry and well-crafted haunted melodies in ‘From the Legend’ to the soothing, coming-back-to-reality trip of ‘Defender of the Crown’
This album is near perfection…Nice long build-ups and breaks that are actually long enough to be trance-inducing… Extremely well-produced, with nice, clear and crispy sounds… I really dig the medieval ‘theme’ of this album – both musically and stylistic… A big old FUMS UP to Trancelucent Productions for bringing us such a wikkid album... ;o)
Highly recommended!
