Neurobiotic Records in Italy is out with a new compilation compiled by dj Edoardo...

The Italian label Neurobiotic Records is out with a new compilation. Here they take a look at the new wave in the psytrance scene called NEO trance. It is compiled by dj Edoardo.

NEO:Robotics (Neurobiotic Records) 2003 (NBRCD08)

1. Intelabeam – In Time Out
2. Altom Vs. Sirius Isness – Time To Become Conscious
3. Alternate Vision – A Different Perspective
4. Pixel Vs. Sub 6 – One Shot (Wrecked Machines Rmx)
5. Time Lock – Alien Device
6. Vibra – Groundbreaker
7. Joti Sidhu Vs. dj Edoardo – Chaotic Biotic
8. Frequency Surfer Vs. XP VooDoo – White Wizard
9. Beat Hackers – Hack Me Up
10. Tikal – Aura

First out is Intelabeam (Dan Keinan) with a stumpy track. Not as melodic and full on as the rest of this compilation, but groovy with some tribal drums above the rolling bass lines. Track 2 is a collaboration between Altom and Sirius Isness. This has the usual Altom groove with deep, heavy bass lines. Above the rhythms you get some atmospheric sounds and after a while you get a full on melody. No surprises, just the usual full on sound. Track 3 is by Alternate Vision (Johan Kraft), which is one half of Logic Bomb. Those guys have started releasing quite a lot by their own lately. The track we get here has the typical Logic Bomb drift, but I think the melodies sound a bit more simple than we are used to get from these guys. Track 4 is a collaboration between Pixel and Sub6, but remixed by Wrecked Machines from Brazil. Wrecked Machines is to be found on a lot of compilations released lately, and his debut album Blink released on Etnicanet early 2003 seems to have hit the crowd pretty good. This track goes the morning full on style, with some light melodies coming in now and then. If you like his style, you will like this one too. Track 5 is by a new upcoming act called Time Lock (Felix Nagorsky). He sure has thrown himself on the groovy full on wagon. This track has some really crazy melodic sounds, and the groove is pretty dark. More night time vibes in this one than in the previous tracks on this compilation.

Track 6 is by Vibra (Daniel Costa) who released his debut album Civilizations on Neurobiotic Records 2003. The track we get here is not on the album. Groovy, rolling night time trance, with some full on sounds jumping in and out. Track 7 is a collaboration between the psytrance veteran Joti Sidhu aka Psychaos, and dj Edoardo who has compiled this CD. Joti likes it more minimal and dark, and that’s what you get. Rolling, stumpy rhythms with noisy melodies and sounds. Track 8 is also an interesting collaboration. This is Frequency Surfer (Sebastian Claro) who released a strong album (Respect) under this name on Inpsyde Media 2003. He was also a member of GMS a few years ago. Here he has made a track with dj XP Voodoo from Russia, who plays his dj sets all over the world these days, especially in India in Goa season… This track is one of the best on this compilation in my opinion. More melodic and varied. New full on sound with influences of old school melodic goa. Then we get a track by Beat Hackers (Miki Bibas and Guy Peled). These guys give us a track of full on heavy rhythms mixed with a ton of psychedelic noisy sounds. Very typical Israeli sound and nothing new and interesting with this track in my ears. The last track on this compilation is by Tikal (Mano and Vincent Bernal). They have gone another direction and give us a full on track, full of tribal influences, like flute and tribal drums. One of my favourite tracks on this album and a nice finish.

This compilation follows the usual full on melodic style we are getting quite a lot of these days. Some interesting collaborations and a couple of strong tracks, but not more than an average good, full on compilation.
