Finally Dragonfly Records is back with some better psytrance..

After several disappointing progressive releases from Dragonfly Records, they finally hit back with a more full on compilation, compiled by dj Ricardo Cassettari.

Absolute Threshold (Dragonfly Records) 2003 (BFLCD68)

1. Jirah – Surrounded In Chaos
2. Wizzy Noise – Nightline
3. Quadra – Circulation
4. Sirius Isness – Illegal Activity
5. Jirah – Emergency
6. Tranan – Slingshot
7. Vibra – Bounce (Remix)
8. Psychoid – Fantastic Planet
9. Quadra – Orbit Simulator

First out is Jirah (Tim McCall) who released his debut album (Outer Access) on U.S.T.A. Records this year. Definitely an upcoming talent we will hear more from in the coming years. On this compilation we get two new tracks by him that is not on the album. This track is full on melodic and varied. Pretty good track, without any cheese at all. Track 2 is by Wizzy Noise (Micky Noise & Uriel) who I think has become much better the lately. The track they give us here is one of the better tracks I have heard by them. Some tribal influences, atmospheric sounds, good melodies and a nice full on drift, without all the noise we are used to. Track 3 is by another upcoming artist called Quadra (Ido Liran). This track is a bit darker, with very psychedelic sounds. I think it’s great. Very drifting and trancey, with fluffy melodies not becoming too cheesy. Track 4 is by Sirius Isness (Max Peterson and Davina Elmosnino). They give a very drifting, deep track. Still full on all the way.

Track 5 is another track by Jirah. This track starts nice and floating, before the full on rhythms starts rolling again. Melodic and varied as always from this guy. Track 6 is by Tranan, which is the solo project of Jonas Pettersson, known as one half of Logic Bomb from Sweden. This one has the typical Logic bomb drift. It is also pretty melodic, but one of the melodies sounds a bit cheesy. Away from that, this track is pretty good. Then we get a track by Vibra (Daniel Costa) from Brazil, also an upcoming full on trance artist. This one has a really groovy bass line and pretty drifting sounds. Nice one. Track 8 is by a group I haven’t heard about before called Psychoid (Darren Burgos and Greg Kaplowitz). This is a really pumping track with a few sounds that reminds me a bit of house music! The last track on this compilation is another one by Quadra. It starts nice and floating, before the rhythms starts pushing. Melodic and floating all the way, with a rhythm drift somewhere between full on and progressive trance.

This compilation is in my opinion the best release Dragonfly Records has had for a very long time! In this compilation you get pure quality full on sound all the way. Definitely one of the better full on compilations this year! Good job done by dj Ricardo, so let’s hope Dragonfly will continue releasing quality stuff like this.
