Iboga Records in Denmark is out with their first chill out compilation...
|
Danish Iboga records surprises us with a chill out compilation this time! This is supposed to be the first compilation in a chill out series from Iboga.
Floating Point 01 (Iboga Records) 2003 (IBOGACD17)
1. Tomzen – Namaste
2. Digital Mystery Tour (DMT) – DeMaterializer (3rd Edit)
3. Great Lap Forward – Sniff
4. Magneticon – Treehugger Vs. Boomer
5. Crowd Control – Thors Armpit
6. I. X. O. P. – Time For Sweetness
7. Puff Dragon – Lava
8. Fabel – Fortune-teller
9. Anesthesia – Floating
10. Jules Verne – Sad Melody
First out is an artist I haven’t heard before (Tomzen aka Thomas Dietl). But the track he gives us is really beautiful! A down tempo dub track with a nice tribal male voice. Very relaxing. Track 2 is by someone more famous, Digital Mystery Tour (DMT). This is Stephane Holweck most known from Total Eclipse and Michio Baba from Japan in a collaboration. They released a great album on Twisted Records in 2001. Here we surprisingly get a new track from them. Dubby, down tempo chill going in a dark way with a lot of variation. Deep and relaxing. Track 3 is by Marius Katz aka Great Leap Forward, who released an album on Flying Rhino Records in 2001. Here he has put the trance aside, and made a really nice chilled track with floating soundscapes, psychedelic sounds and great melodies. Fantastic! Track 4 by Magneticon (Michael Kammler) has a deep down tempo rhythm and some floating sounds above. Very slow and relaxing, but not as varied as the previous tracks on this compilation.
Track 5 by Crowd Control (Jesper Banner and Thomas Banner) has a pretty happy melody, but a bit scary at the same time. Track 6 has some vocals and sounds a bit more funky. Nice one. Track 7 is a little surprise. This is a guy called Puff Dragon, which is actually a chilled project by the man behind Double Dragon (Steve Good). This is a very happy track with light melodies and sounds. Good to hear some chill from this guy too. Then we get a track by Jeppe himself, where he calls himself Fabel. This has some tribal rhythms and some sort of dark sounds. Mystic chill. Track 9 is by an artist I haven’t heard much from for a while. This is by Anesthesia who released an album (P.V.C.) on Blue Room Released in 1997! Here we get some voice samples you also find in a Deep Dive Corporation track. A totally weird track. The last track on this compilation is by a guy called Jules Verne (Jakob Olsen). This is a totally relaxing track sounding pretty sad as the track title says.
This chill out compilation is surprisingly good! Interesting artists and tracks all the way. So let’s hope Iboga Records will continue releasing good quality chill like this in the future.
