The third chapter of Sky Dancing from Japanese Dakini Records..!
|
Here is something I have been looking forward to. The third chapter in the Sky Dancing Nada Masala series on Makyos own label Dakini Records in Japan. As usual with all the Dakini releases, you get a really beautiful cover art.
Sky Dancing Nada Masala Vol. 3 (Dakini Records) 2003 (DAK2112)
1. Makyo Pashyanti (Deeply Dubbed Mix)
2. Ascendence Marathon
3. Bageshree Bhakti
4. Karash Kale Ashes
5. Macchiato Kenya A A
6. Jaia Evolving To Outside
7. Essa 3 Sundial
8. Jairamji Temple
Dakini Records is known for high quality tribal chill out music. A mix of electronic ambient and organic music. One of my favourite artists out there, Gio Makyo starts this compilation with a beautiful tribal dub track, with a few vocals by Keiku (who sings in several Makyo tracks), floating relaxed sounds and tribal drums. Nice to hear a new Makyo track, since I haven`t heard any new tracks by him since the Yakshini album in 2001. Hopefully he will release a new album soon, or maybe a Padmasana album? Track 2 is by Ascendence. This track has a groovy down tempo rhythm in a dubby way. Very relaxing floating track. Track 3 is influenced by music from India. You get Indian singing, tribal drums and sitar. Really nice. Track 4 is one of my favourite tracks on this compilation. Reminds me of Makyo. You get some beautiful flute, piano and a relaxing voice. Fantastic!
Track 5 by Macchiato is also sort of Makyo style, with a relaxed rhythm and several beautiful sounds. In this one you get a smooth happy melody too. Great track! Track 6 is surprisingly a new track by Jaia from France! Jaia was two persons, but is now only one (Yannis Kamarinos). Jaia has also released a double album on Dakini Records. The track we get here is a very floating ambient track. After a few minutes we get a groovy dub rhythm too. Then we get an old ambient track from 1996 (!) by Essa 3. This was originally released on ZoeMagik Records, for those who remember that label
The same label as the incredible Young American Primitive album was released on. The track we get here sounds like it could have been made today. Great floating melodic ambient. At last we get a track from Jairamji who released a beautiful album (Kindred Spirits) on Dakini Records earlier this year. The track we get here is not on the album. This is a really long track lasting for almost 16 minutes! And it is a beautiful journey too, with flute, floating sounds and tribal drums. Great finish on this compilation.
Makyo and his Dakini label has done it again! A fantastic compilation full of beautiful chill out music for your relaxed home listening. No bad tracks to be found here! Recommended to you all!
