Swedish Digital Structures releases a new album, this time full of tribal trance...

Finally we get the long awaited Etnoscope album released on Digital Structures in Sweden. Etnoscope are M. Colin, R. Alaane and L. Engelbert. After seeing them live at a forest party in Sweden this summer (Mossmys 2), I have been looking forward to this.

Etnoscope "Drums From The Dawn Of Time" Digital Structures 2003 (DIGCD014)

1. Dawn Of Time
2. Sunrise
3. King Size Rizzla
4. Megastamp
5. Sneaky Drums
6. Metalixir
7. Qula
8. Silent Agreement
9. Ki Ian
10. Harmony

The first track is totally tribal, with some didgeridoo and tribal drums. A pretty short track, lasting for almost four minutes. Track 2 starts with dark floating sounds and a beautiful female voice. After a while, some stumpy rhythms start pushing. Really cool tribal vibe mixed with progressive trance. My favourite track on this album. Track 3 is a banging progressive track, but lighter than track 2. Still some tribal influences of voice samples and tribal drums. Track 4 has a really deep bass rhythm, going in a sort of techno tempo. A dark track which almost sound a bit minimal compared to the other tracks on this album. Track 5 starts stumping with progressive rhythms from the first second. This sounds a bit industrial and cool. Track 6 is a heavy rolling track, still with the tribal influences. Track 7 sounds pretty mystic, with dark scary sounds and a beautiful female voice. Also this very tribal. One of my favourite tracks on this album. Track 8 is a lighter track, with more morning sounds and melodies. Track 9 is a down tempo track with a lot of noisy psychedelic sounds. The last track is a sort of chill out track, but pretty weird. After this, you get a little surprise, a hidden track! Always fun with those, but I often wish they had put it in as a separate track, because it is a bit annoying each time you want to just listen to only that hidden track, and not the one before... The one we get here is a funny little chilled track inspired by country music or something. Nice finish.

This album is absolutely something to check out if you like tribal trance. The album is pretty varied too and it for sure did good at a Scandinavian forest party.
