Nano Records is back with a new compilation with mostly artists from South Africa and UK...
|
Nano Records is releasing their third compilation! After two successful releases (Emergence and Dilation), the South Africa and UK based label is back with more and even better melodic morning trance.
Clarity (Nano Records) 2003 (NANOOCD003)
1. Logic Bomb – Joddel
2. Commercial Hippies – Where Dreams Come From
3. Rinkadink – Ultima (Protoculture Remix)
4. Cyan – Electro Texture
5. Vatos Locos – Four Twenty
6. Tristan V The Electric Ant – Six Straight Days
7. Hydrophonic – Ones And Zeros
8. Protoculture – High Orbit
9. Triptych – Cold
First out is surprisingly Swedish Logic Bomb with a track that is never released before. This is a really nice opener of this compilation, with pretty slow going rhythms, the usual beautiful jumpy melodies and a nice groove. You can rarely go wrong with Logic Bomb. Track two is by Cyan and Gareth Tacon (one half of Hydrophonic). They give us a really floating track, with groovy rolling rhythms and almost scary melodies, somewhere between full on and progressive trance. Then we get a track by Rinkadink, which is getting pretty popular in the trance scene these days. He gives us a rolling track that reminds me a lot of the Alien Project style, but this is a Protoculture remix. After a while we get some melodies that almost sound a bit cheesy to me, but away from that, a nice track. Cyan (Anton Raubenheimer) himself serves track four. A stumpy track with an atmospheric melody. Nice one.
Track 5 is a track by Vatos Locos! Vatos Locos is Nick Barber (Doof), Celli Firmi (Earthling) and Xavier Fux. They released an album on Mexican Sony Music (Welcome 2 Da Barrio) in 2001. Here we get a remix by Eartling of a track I haven`t heard before. This sounds almost housy, but pretty cool. Some tribal drums and a floating vibe. Then we get a new track by Tristan, here in a collaboration with The Electric Ant (dj Ans). This one starts with someone saying something about Peyote, before some hard rolling rhythms hits in, and follow the track all the way to the end. This track has some pretty psychedelic melodies and sounds, but it drowns a bit in the heavy bass lines. One of the best tracks I have heard from Tristan in a while. Track 7 is a new track by Hydrophonic from South Africa, who has released several tracks on Nano Records already. This track is pretty full on, with uplifting sounds and groovy rolling bass lines. This one will for sure do some good at the dance floor. Protoculture is also a known name on Nano releases. He gives us a hard banging track with some dark psychedelic sounds and crazy melodies. Nice melodic full on. The last track on this compilation is a little surprise by Triptych. This track sounds different from most psytrance I have heard before. It is much slower than the other tracks on this compilation, it has a really funky rhythm and the melodies are really pleasant, perfect for the morning. A cool track, nice for home listening and dancing in the sun. Great finish!
In my opinion, this compilation is absolutely the best one Nano Records has released so far. Here you get a varied compilation full of groovy stuff, beautiful melodies and unexpected surprises. But that`s not all! You can put this cd into your computer or Mac, and you will get access to new music that can be downloaded from their site:
