A new fresh act from Seattle releases his debut album on U.S.T.A. Records

Seattle is known for many famous musicians, but not in the trance scene. But it is about time we get a trance release from this city in the northwest USA. A very nice city I once lived in for a year. Jirah is a new fresh act from Seattle, now releasing his debut album on the Israeli label U.S.T.A. Records. Jirah is Tim McCall.

Jirah has thrown himself on the Israeli style wagon, with full on mixed with pleasant melodies. The first track starts nice and atmospheric, before the rolling full on rhythms comes in. The track builds up with many melodies and variation. In the middle of the track we get a break, before we go back to full on. At the end we also get a nice break with some atmospheric break beat chill vibe. Melodic goa trance in a new way! Track 2 also starts floating and atmospheric, before the rhythms start rolling. More and more melodies come in. He manages to stay away from the too cheesy side, and the tracks vary in a pleasant way from beginning to end. Track 3 is a really drifting melodic trance track. Perfect for the morning! The bass line goes a bit up and down, but he manages to stay away from doing it too much. This track reminds me a bit of Infected Mushroom with those teasing melodies. Nice build up, nice breaks and great melodies!
Track 4 starts with some light break beats and a beautiful floating sound. Then the aggressive rolling bass line smashes in, and it builds up to some kind of weird flamenco guitar! A very full on melodic track. Track 5 starts pleasant and floating. The rhythms go slowly into the track. When it become full on, it sounds really massive. The main melody in this one might sound too cheesy to some, but I think it is pretty good. You also get a bit of Infected Mushroom influences in this one too. Track 6 starts pumping hard from the first second. This is the darkest track on this album, but not among my favourites. It sounds a bit noisy. Track 7 goes back to the lighter melodies again with an atmospheric vibe. It sounds a bit like GMS but with better melodies. Track 8 has a deeper bass line and some really nice goa melodies. Nice track. The last track on this album is a sort of happy track. Most of the track is pretty good, but there are some cheesy euro dance alike melodies in it that sort of ruin the track.
This was actually a surprisingly good album! Here you get the lighter side of psytrance, so if you are not into those morning melodies in trance you might look away from this one. But this will for sure be played a lot during morning sets at festivals around the world this summer.
