Chill out/ambient reviews
FA Music is a fresh label in Israel, focusing on young Israeli electronic musicians. They explore many different kinds of electronic music. Their first release was the debut album of Algorhythm, released last year. An interesting experimental chill album that surprised many. FA Music is now out with their second release, this time an album by QB, which is Yuval K. Dar from Israel.

He has got a multi-talented Israeli female singer with him on this album named Dganit Daddo. She sings in most of the tracks on this album. The first track starts with some vocals, before a groovy rhythm starts rolling. More housy than trancey, pretty relaxed with a sort of Arabic vibe. They want the Arabs and Jews to live in peace and harmony, so they mix Arabic music into modern electronic music. Pretty nice track, very different from the usual stuff that comes out of Israel. Track 2 is a much more chilled track. Nice relaxing sounds and melodies mixed with some down tempo beats. Dganit doesn’t sing in this track. Track 3 goes back to a faster beat. I get some kind of old school vibes out of this one. Pretty drifting track with some guitar sounds now and then. You get some middle-eastern vibes in there too, including vocals and violin. Track 4 starts slow and relaxing with some flute sounds. Then we get a groovy down tempo rhythm. This sounds pretty nice until the vocals come in. I think the vocals in this track sounds terrible and doesn’t fit into the track at all! Totally cheesy pop track. The rest sounds really nice with some middle-eastern vibes again, but the vocals in this one ruins it.
Things get better in track 5. Here he gives us a pretty stumping beat, relaxing piano melodies, and floating sounds. It sounds actually pretty dramatic. You get vocals in this one too, but here it fits in much better. This track might sound a bit too cheesy to some, but it can be pretty refreshing too. Track 6 starts pretty melancholic. This one goes back to a chilled floating vibe, with dramatic sounds, experimental beats and some vocals. At the end of this track, it jumps over to some kind of big beat, and things get more twisted. This is my favourite track on this album. Track 7 starts with the vocals again. Then a pretty pumping beat comes in. Pretty intense track with some kind of ethnic vibe. I get some kind of new age vibes with this track too. Track 8 has a stumping, slow beat. Here we get some kind 80’s inspired melodies. The last track has some guitar that reminds me a lot of a track made by Infected Mushroom called Dancing With Kadafi. This is a very relaxing track, with some beautiful vocals and chilled down tempo beats. Nice finish on this album.
This album is full of experimental electronic music with ethnic influences. Personally I think some of the vocals become a bit too much and that the first release on FA Music was much better, but you get a couple of goodies in this one too.
