Infected Mushroom "The Other Side"

Top level Music reviews Chill out/ambient reviews

Infected Mushroom (Amit Duvdevani and Erez Aizen) is out with a little bit of promotion for them selves. A CD single with tracks already released last year on their album Converting Vegetarians. This is a limited edition release, and the only shop selling this is Psyshop in Germany. You can also get it for free if you buy it together with an Infected Mushroom t-shirt.

Infected Mushroom "The Other Side" BNE 2004 (YOYOCS07)

1. I Wish
2. Blink
3. Converting Vegetarians
4. Illuminaughty

On this CD single, they take a look at some of the more experimental tracks they have produced for the second CD on their double album Converting Vegetarians. The first track called I Wish is very influenced by the modern version of electro, which is pretty popular on the commercial marked these days. You also get a lot of male vocals, which they have done by themselves. This is actually a pop track with electro influences. A track that for sure could be a hit if it reached a big crowd. Track 2 called Blink is a softer track. This one is also full of vocals, this time by Michele Adamson, also known for her vocals in several tracks by Shpongle, Violet Vision and other tracks by Infected Mushroom. This is actually one of her better tracks in my opinion. Beautiful voice and a mystic electronic sound and melodies by Infected Mushroom. Pure pop track that also could have been a hit on the radio stations out there. The version we get here is actually called a radio edit, but doesn’t sound very different from the version we got on the Converting Vegetarians album. Track 3 is also a radio edit, this time the track called Converting Vegetarians. Here the Infected guys are singing themselves again. Sort of hip hop and rock influences mixed with weird Infected sounds and melodies. The last track we get here is the track called Illuminaughty. This is also one of my favourites from the experimental part of the Converting Vegetarians album. Michele Adamson is singing with her beautiful voice in this one too. Again we get some sort of electro pop vibe.

This CD single isn’t necessary at all if you already have the Converting Vegetarians album. All the four tracks are on the album, so this is probably released just to promote their sound. If you don’t have the album, I would recommend you to buy the album instead of this. But the Infected Mushroom collectors out there should probably run and buy this as long as the stock lasts.
