Digital Talk (Julien F. and Luc A.) is out with their debut album New Age Surf on Acidance Records. They have previously worked as Droidsect, but have released several tracks as Digital Talk on various compilations. They are already well known in the scene for their hard pushing night time trance.

It seems like there is a special night time trance, also called horror trance music, that has become really popular in many psytrance scenes the last couple of years. Eastern European countries loves it, and especially Russia has had several artists releasing music like this for several years already, with Parasense as the most known name so far in this style of trance. This music fits best at night, because of the dark vibes and hard style, but fits also into old warehouse locations etc. Digital Talk is also among the artists who have learned to produce this kind of trance pretty well. The first track has a fast, pumping bass line, just rolling through the track, without much variation. Trance like this often has the same bass line through the entire track, so the only thing that varies is the sounds and melodies above. In this track the melodies and sounds varies quite a lot. Dark as hell, but the melodies lightens up a bit. Track 2 is also a massive rolling giant. Totally groovy, deep bass line without variation at all, with dark sounds swirling above. A bad thing about tracks like this is that the melodies often drowns in the heavy bass line. Pure night time trance. Track 3 is more stumping, but still massive, with those heavy rhythms. Not much melodies in there, but several psychedelic sounds jumping and swirling like mad.
Track 4 is even more intense. The massive bass line is definitely intense, but here you also get these intense, almost nagging sounds. Dark night vibes all the way. Track 5 is among the fastest tracks on this album (148 bpm). Dark and massive as all the other tracks on this album, but I think there is slightly more variation of sounds in there. Track 6 has the album title. This is more pumping with more jumpy sounds. The sounds are very psychedelic, but doesn’t vary much from track to track. Track 7 has this nagging vibe again. Intense sounds that doesn’t vary much. This one is also among the fastest tracks on this album (148 bpm), and the rhythm drift varies a bit more than most of the other tracks on this album. Track 8 is the last trance track we get here. Totally dark and pumping, with only rough sounds. There are also some voice samples in there. The darkest track on this album. They finish it all with a chill out track. Even this one has a really dark vibe. Scary floating sounds, drifting slowly through the track.
This album is perfect for those of you who like this kind of full on night time trance. Personally I think a lot of tracks like this sound too much the same, without much variation of the bass line and you get the same intense psychedelic sounds in many tracks. But I like this album better than many others in this style, and if it doesn’t always fit into your home listening, it will for sure create some good response at the dance floors around the world this year, especially at night.
