Music reviews
Wizzy Noise (Micky Noise and Uriel) from Greece are veterans in the psytrance scene. They have mostly released music on Candyflip Records in Greece, but now they are out with their new album Stereo Electric on Solstice Music in Japan, and on Spun Records for the rest of the world.

Wizzy Noise has probably had a lot of fun mixing electro influences into trance on this album. The first track is pretty dark and pumping. Groovy as hell with electro inspired melodies and floating dark sounds. Track 2 starts with a floating atmospheric sound, before the groovy rolling bass line is back. This track is one of my favourites on this album. Very trancey, but the baby cry samples sounds a bit stupid. Away from that, a nice full on track. Track 3 is a very drifting full on track, but could have been a bit more varied and some of the sounds are very GMS alike. Pretty dark all the way through. Track 4 has those heavy rolling beats, but also some tribal drums above. You get the floating dark vibe in this one too, but also more melodies with a bit lighter touch. Track 5 is my favourite track on this album. It is very drifting and totally groovy, but also with some of those electro vibes. Reminds me a little bit of Dino Psaras latest album Lick It (Oktava Records 2003).
Track 6 is originally made by Bansi, who is one half of GMS. Here we get a remix by Wizzy Noise, but you still get that typical GMS style, but not as nagging as the usual GMS stuff. Totally full on all the way through. Track 7 starts with some chilled light sounds, before the heavy rhythm drift hits in again. Very stumping track, with dark atmospheric floating sounds coming and going several times. The rest of the track sounds a lot like GMS, and I’m a bit tired of that style Away from that, not a bad full on track. Track 8 is the most drifting track on this album. It has also a lot of twisted sounds and a nice psychedelic vibe. It reminds me a little bit of the drift you get from Bamboo Forest tracks. They also put in some lighter drops, and the electro influences are definitely there. The last track on this album starts nice and floating. Then some totally heavy beats start pumping with a floating vibe around. Nice finish on the album.
This is a pretty good full on album. There are some GMS influences here too (of course when it is released on Spun), but there are plenty of other interesting influences too, like the electro vibes. In my opinion, this is the best album Wizzy Noise has released so far, so check it out.
