Psytelligence

Top level Music reviews

UK based Organic Records is out with their sixth CD release, this time a compilation called Psytelligence. As usual, the label manager Chris Organic is behind it all.

Psytelligence (Organic records) 2003 (ORGCD006)

1. Aphid Moon Vs. Organik – Are Mutants?
2. Organik – Need A Drink?
3. Voice Of Cod – We Are Free
4. Organik – Jellyfish
5. Miraculix – Sofisticated Electronics
6. Hammerheads – Spoon Bender
7. Mr. Biscuit – Slim Shady
8. P.O.T.S. & Chris Organic – Bring back The Sunshine
9. Indidginus – Superstrings (Wildly Inaccurate Remix)

First out is a collaboration between Aphid Moon and Chris Organic (Organik). Aphid Moon released his debut album (High Diver) on Dragonfly Records earlier this year. His album and all his releases on a ton of different compilations haven’t impressed me, but it seems like Chris has had some positive influences here. This track is not bad at all! Very drifting with some great psychedelic melodies. Nice one. Track 2 is by Chris Organic himself. A very stumpy psychedelic track. For sure some good dj material. Track 3 is by a guy called Voice Of Cod, which is actually a new project by Colin Bennum (OOOD). He gives us a pretty varied psychedelic track with several twisted melodies and breaks. One of the best tracks on this compilation in my opinion. Track 4 is another track by Organik again. This one goes faster, still very stumpy, but darker. Psychedelic sounds swirling in and out of the drifting rhythms.

Track 5 is by Swedish Miraculix who has released quite a lot of tracks lately. This track is more full on, with a heavier rolling basslines and stronger sounds. Track 6 is by Hammerheads, which is a collaboration between Andrew Humphrey and Chris Organic. This is a real dark stumper, with some swirling psychedelic sounds. Track 7 is by Mr. Biscuit, which is the solo project of Andrew Humphrey. It starts off with some voice samples before some stumpy progressive rhythms starts pumping. This is not as fast as the rest of the tracks on this compilation. Track 8 is a collaboration between Prisoners Of the Sun (P.O.T.S.) and Chris Organic. This track is also released on a 12” on Spiral Trax Records in Sweden, and is fore sure on the more progressive side of trance. Nice melodic morning prog. The last track on this compilation is also a progressive trance track, made by Indidginus (Michael Martin) who also has collaborated with OOOD. This is a drifting, melodic, progressive trance track, going in a relaxed, but danceable way.

If you have enjoyed some of the other Organic releases, you will for sure like this one too. Typical Organic stuff all the way, mostly somewhere between full on and progressive trance.
