Exogenic Records in Finland is back with more experimental psychedelic trance, this time the second album by Eraser Vs Yöjalka, who released their first album Round 1 on Exogenic Records one year ago.

These guys sure goes their own way when producing trance, and Finland is also known for all their weird music. Eraser and Yöjalka is among the better ones when it comes to this weird kind of trance, and their first album Round 1 really surprised me in a positive way. The first track starts pretty dark. Weird sounds starts swirling into the track from beginning to end. They have also added some floating vibes above the groovy bass lines. After a while a melody jumps into the track. Pretty happy, funky melody. Track 2 goes the same direction, but with more stumpy rhythms. Reallly groovy and full of weird sounds. The melody that comes in after a few minutes is really crazy. Reminds me a bit of old Koxbox melodies. Totally funny listening to and for sure crazy as hell to dance to. Track 3 starts with some laughter, before we get even crazier sounds and beats. The rhythms sounds more like break beat in the beginning, but goes over to stumpy trance. You get some really spooky sounds in there too and some jazzy sound samples. As weird as it can get.

Track 4 starts with a dog barking, a flute alike sound and some birds singing. Then the totally groovy rhythms start rolling again, together with tons of swirling sounds. You get a more tribal feeling with this track. Track 5 is another happy, jazz influenced weird trance track. Almost too weird if you ask me, but for sure funny. Track 6 is the most stumpy track on this album. You also get less weird sounds in this one. Some tribal drums etc. and guitar alike sounds make it pretty cool. Track 7 is a rolling, heavy track that sounds more like “normal” psytrance. Still, they have put in really weird parts and sounds. This reminds me a bit of Seinfelt (the comedy..)! Track 8 is darker and a pretty fast stumper. Full on dark trance in the Finish way. Track 9 is one of my favourite tracks on this album. Really psychedelic and drifting, with some great melodies and sounds. The last track is a more chilled down tempo track, still with weird sounds all the way. They have also added some weird vocals into this one, and the down tempo rhythms goes more over to break beat at the end.

The code words here are weird, twisted and experimental. Eraser and Yöjalka sure has delivered a good second album, but I think their first album Round 1 is slightly better. Recommended for those of you who want something different from regular psytrance.
