It’s been a few years since Atmos (Thomas Balicki) released his first album Headcleaner on Spiral Trax Records. In the meantime we got a more experimental album (Overlap). But finally, we get a taste of his new forthcoming album on Spiral Trax. A CD single with a track from his new album and another track we get in two versions.
Atmos "Metro De Luxe" Spiral Trax Records 2003 (SPITCD033CD)
1. Metro De Luxe (Original Album Version)
2. Catch From Scratch (Hi-Fi Original)
3. Catch From Scratch (Metropolitan Cut)
The first track we get is a taste of the new album. Progressive drifting trance, or should we say progressive house? It is pretty trancey, but reminds me a lot of progressive house. Fluffy, but not too cheesy. Track 2 (Catch From Scratch) is definitely not trance, but progressive house. A bit tribal, drifting house track. The last track on this CD single is another version of track 2. Still progressive house. You can easily hear that it is Atmos involved, with those atmospheric drifting sounds, but he has for sure made it much more housy.
This CD single was a bit disappointing in my ears since I was hoping for some less housy stuff, but after seeing this guy perform four times the last year, it didn’t come as a big surprise…
