Ritual Dance

Top level Music reviews Psytrance reviews

Acidance Records is one of the leading labels for hard, dark trance music these days. They are now out with a new compilation full of the usual suspects from Acidance.

Ritual Dance (Acidance Records 2003) ACIDCD008

1. Nothing Special – Digital Kiss
2. Earthling vs Biodegradable – Uncle Bob
3. Full Color – Numerical Combina
4. Digital Talk – Sans Issue
5. Fungus Funk – Future Is Mine
6. Parasense – Vodka Fx
7. Shift – Sternoptyx
8. Psycho Talk – Twisted Face
9. Xenomorph – Tree Of Death

First out is an unknown name (someone called Nothing special). This is a real stumpy track. Not as fast as the rest of the tracks on this compilation, but for sure more interesting than most of them. Here you get a lot of weird samples and sounds. Pretty light track, which might fit well with sunrise. Track 2 is by Earthling (Celli Firmi) who released his debut solo album Patterns as Earthling on Acidance Records last year. He releases music under names like Vatos Locos too, but mostly as Earthling. The track we get here is done together with Biodegradable. A very typical full on Earthling track, with a lot of noisy GMS alike sounds. Track 3 is by someone called Full Color. Real heavy rolling bass line going up and down, with a few psychedelic sounds. For me it gets a bit boring. They try out some melody at the end, which make it all much better, but not interesting enough in my opinion. Digital Talk serves track 4. They are getting pretty popular these days, for their dark, heavy style. This is the fastest track on this compilation. Really fast pumping rolling rhythms, with a few break beats above, with noisy dark psychedelic sounds going in and out. Pretty full on all the way.

Fungus Funk is also a known name in the Acidance team. The track they give us here is unbelievable hard. It has a really deep pumping bass line and a lot of twisted sounds. Pretty cool night time music if you ask me, but this is probably too heavy for most people. Then we get a track by the psytrance stars from Russia, Parasense. They released their second album on Acidance Records this year (Avangaro). For me, Parasense is the most over rated psytrance act out there. Why is everybody so happy about their music? I find it minimal and mostly very boring. However, the track we get here is slightly better than most tracks on their albums. This one is more varied, with voice samples, guitar, a little melody etc. Still you get the usual dark rolling bass line etc. But it is the best Parasense track I have heard so far. Track 7 by Shift sounds like a movie in the beginning, before the pumping rhythms starts banging. This is a hard banging track. Not very varied. Some sort of melody and some scary breaks save the track from getting boring. Track 8 by Psycho Talk goes the same tempo, but it varies a bit more with some more cool melodies and sounds. Very dark full on. The last track on this compilation is surprisingly by Xenomorph, who will release his second trance album this year. This is a really cool track. It starts with the sound of wind, before the heavy pumping rhythms starts banging. If you are after some real night time trance, get tracks by this guy.

This compilation is pretty much what I had expected. Hard pumping night time psychedelic trance. This will not be good for every bodies taste, but for sure something for all of you “wanna be odd and only listen to dark east European trance” kind of guys….
