Master Minds

Top level Music reviews

French 3D Vision records is out with a new compilation with full on trance tracks. 3D Vision have their own way of doing full on, and a lot of the artists releasing on their label are among the cream of full on trance these days.

Master Minds (3D Vision Records 2003) 3DVCD015

1. Central Processing Unit – Killer Rabbit
2. Porters – Back To Back
3. Absolum vs C.P.U. – The Race
4. Safi Connection – D-Specialist
5. Talamasca vs Silicon Sound – Lysergic Warp
6. Cosmochaos – Paradoxal Feeling
7. Altöm – Wonderfull
8. Space Cat vs Dede – Dragon`s Tail
9. Silicon Sound – Generator

First out is a project called Central Processing Unit. They give us a full on track full of noisy sounds and pushing rhythms. Probably what we can call typical 3D Vision style. Not much light sounds here, just noisy full on all the way. If you like trance like Skazi, this might be the right choice. Track 2 is by someone called X Porters. This one is slightly more melodic and you get more tribal drums above the pushing rhythms. In my opinion, better than track 1. Absolum and a guy called C.P.U. give us track 3. Absolum is Christof Drouillet, known for his dark heavy rolling trance and an Absolum album called Wild released on TIP.World in 2001. He will release his second Absolum album this year on 3D Vision Records. Here he follows his typical heavy dark style, but they have added more of the noisy stuff, like in the Central Processing Unit track. Totally full on to the bone. Then we get a track from the Israeli group Safi Connection. It starts off nice and pleasant with some ethnic eastern sounds. Then the rhythms start pushing. They ad more melody and psychedelic sounds than the previous tracks on this compilation, but it doesn`t get very varied through the track.

Track 5 is a fresh breath of air! A really interesting collaboration between the 3D master of melodic full on, Talamasca, and the melodic master of Moon Spirits, Silicon Sound. This track is really great. It`s dark, with a lot of cool sounds and variation. Then they ad these really nice melodies as usual. Melodies which really fits in, but doesn`t get too cheesy. Fantastic trancey full on. My wish is that 3D Vision will release more of this kind in the future. Track 6 is a new track from Alex Serkisyan (Cosmochaos). He has released a few tracks on 3D Vision lately, like on the Jetlag compilation released last year. Here he gives us another full on track. Hard, pushing rhythms, with a few psychedelic screaming sounds going in and out. Track 7 is by Altöm from France. They have released a lot on different labels lately. Here they give us a pretty trancey track. Full on, but with floating parts and some more melodies than most of the tracks on this compilation. Track 8 is by one of my favourite artists these days, Space Cat (Avi Algranati). Here in a collaboration with the talented Israeli dj Dede. They give us the typical Space Cat style these days. Not very varied, but extremely trippy and trancey. 3D Vision sure has saved the best track to the end here. They finish this compilation with a beautiful track by Silicon Sound (Johannes Regnier). He gave a big smile on most trance people around the world when he released his surprisingly good album Pure Analog on Moon Spirits Records earlier this year. Here we get a brand new track, which follows the style of the album. Full on with unbelievable pleasant melodies. Trance which is good for home listening and for full on dancing. Great finish on this compilation!

This compilation is recommended for those of you who like the full on style of 3D Vision. For me, the Silicon Sound tracks are worth the cd alone. Full on trance tracks you will for sure hear a lot during this summers festivals around the world.
