Jairamji "Kindered Spirits"

Top level Music reviews

My favourite chill out label, the japanese Dakini Records, is out with a new album. This time it`s a group named Jairamji who releases their chill out album. Not a well known name for most people. Personally I didn`t know about them before I saw their live performance at Samothraki Dance Festival 2002, at the chill out stage. As usual, you get a beautiful cover art with this one.

Jairamji are Charlie Roscoe with Rebecca Laurence on cello, Jennifer Stokes on violin, Andreas Kornevall on native american flute and vocals by Susanna Waters. As you see on the musicians, this is very organic chill. The first track is pretty deep, with relaxed slow, tribal rhythms and a very beautiful flute. The flute sounds a bit like some tracks by Entheogenic. You also get some cello by Rebecca Laurence, a little female voice and samples of birds singing. Track 2 starts with sounds from the nature. Then you get the tribal relaxing drums again, and after a few minutes, Jennifer Stokes starts playing her violin together with a tribal male voice. Track 3 has some nice piano and a lot of native American flute. Track 4 has a lot of beautiful piano and floating ambient sounds. Track 5 is the track on this album with most vocals. Really nice vocals by Susanna Waters and a lot of flute. Track 6 has a lot of guitar and tribal relaxing rhythms and some native American flute. The last track on this album is really beautiful with, piano, female vocals, violin and flute. This is a long track, lasting for almost 15 minutes.

If you are after some nice organic chill, this might be the right choice. It`s pretty easy digestible and not very psychedelic, but relaxing. It reminds me a bit of Angel Tears (the project of Momi Ochion and Seb Taylor).
