Juno Reactor "Hotaka"

Top level Music reviews

Juno Reactor is out with a brand new cd single on Metropolis Records in in the US! Good to see these guys are still with us, and hopefully they will release a new album soon.

Juno Reactor "Hotaka" Metropolis Records 2002 (MET257)

1. Hotaka (Radio Edit)
2. Hotaka (12” Dance Version)
3. Hotaka (Thomas P. Heckman Remix)
4. Hotaka (Der Dritte Raum Remix)

It`s always interesting when Juno Reactor is releasing some new stuff. Hotaka is their new track The first version of the track, is probably the original. It starts off with a rough dark voice, before massive guitars and the typical Juno Reactor drift shoots into the track. This is massive rock music all the way, with a very dark sound picture, screaming voices and scary noise. The second version (the 12” dance version) starts very pleasant with a beautiful voice floating. The Hotaka melody drifts slowly into the track, and after 2-3 minutes, the track becomes more danceable, with all the guitar effects, screaming and dark voices. For me a better version than the first one.

The third version is a remix by the famous German techno artist Thomas P. Heckman. This is a veteran in techno, who released a triple “best of” cd album last year (Kopfgeister 1991-2001, Wavescape Records). I get into the techno mood at once. I very stripped version, with hard, drifting rhythms. Something for those underground, sweaty, tunnel techno raves with drifting techno all night and day. The last version is a remix by Der Dritte Raum!, also veterans in the techno scene. They give us a really deep pumping version of the track.

Juno Reactor manage to hit a larger audience than most other psytrance artists because of their varied style, and the influence of dark industrial music. Something for the rockers and for the trancers!
