Transloco Express

Top level Music reviews Psytrance reviews

XIII Bis Records is located in France. They release mostly psytrance. Now they are out with a much more tribal oriented compilation with some of the best artists in this kind of music.

Transloco Express. XIII Bis Records 2002 (149442 M659)

1. Lycanthrope – Bis Mamy B
2. Hilight Tribe – Electric Sage (Remix 2002)
3. Kaophonic Tribu – Kao 3
4. Electroslide – Three Moons In The Maze
5. Victor Sierra – The Servant`s Dance
6. Ninja – Tribal Setting
7. Arketype – Tribute
8. Toires – Jungle Juice
9. Secret Vibes – Grael

The artists picked for this compilation, are all using a lot of organic instruments like didgeridoo, flute, guitar etc. Together with this, they use electronic equipment, which makes it really special. Most of the artists are from France. First out is a French group who call themselves Lycanthrope. They are five people all together. Large group, but it has to be because of all the instruments. This is a chilling very tribal track, with interesting rhythms, some didgeridoo and a happy melody. Hilight Tribe is much more famous for their live performances at several festivals around the world, including psytrance gatherings. They serve track 2. A pretty fast trancey track with tribal drums and a psychedelic electronic melody. Track 3 has a lot of cool didgeridoo and a little vocal. the track becomes pretty fast after a few minutes. The didgeridoo follows the track all the way through. Amazing! (I know how hard it is to play didgeridoo like that!)

Track 4 are made by two French guys (Brice Berhard and Franck Bolaers) who are Electroslide. They released an Electroslide album (Near Life Experience) this year on Twisted Records side label, Backroom Beats. A nice chill out album. The track we get here is not on the album. A very good chill out track, inspired by Arabian music mixed with more jazzy French sounds. Beautiful flute, guitar, tribal drums and a little vocal.Track 5 by Victor Sierra (Bob Eisenstein) is a much faster track. A weird track with techno influenced rhythms and some violin and vocal. Not among my favourites on this compilation. Track 6 by Ninja (Stephane Djani) is heavier beats (more like psytrance), but still with a very tribal sound picture. Track 7 is a collaboration between Ninja (Stephane Djani) and Vanessa Esposita. This is really nice traney down tempo track, with cool tribal vocals (African?) and groovy rhythms.

Track 8 is very interesting. A new track by the talented Florian Seriot (Toires)! He has released three albums, but this track is not on any of those. This track has more rhythms and trancey sounds than any of the Toires stuff I have heard before. Nice track with some beautiful floating ambient parts and Morocco inspired vocal. A fantastic track. Maybe something for those of you who listened to Asia 2001 when Florian was a member of that group in the Transpact days. The last track is made by Secret Vibes. A French group I never had heard about until I saw them live at the tribal gathering Morocco 2001. A festival with tribal groups from Morocco and france and a lot of psytrance acts. They gave us a really good show with live guitar and amazing didgeridoo. They have released a couple of albums, but sadly only in France… The track we get here is a really nice down tempo track, with happy flute, guitar and beautiful sounds. A really good finish on this compilation!

This is a good compilation for those of you who want to explore the more tribal side of psychedelic electronic music. Track 4, 7, 8 and 9 are all really nice. This kind of music is also very hard to find, unless you live in France.
